Forming Food Security Habits Now
Regardless of what you may hear from those with political incentives, the climate is changing. To survive in their occupation, farmers have to adjust their expectations and augment their practices to experience the same rate of germination and yield they have enjoyed and budgeted for in years past.
Their success is largely dependent on our ability as consumers to diversify our diets to include foods that we may not be accustomed to eating - slow foods, native edible weeds, parts of plants that are not typically prepared, and various types of fungi. All these foods are nutrient-dense, but we must be open to experimenting with them to experience the benefits.
Some say we’re on the brink of facing the worst food crisis ever known to man. So Good Neighbor Gardens is committed to helping you progress your relationship with food by encouraging you to eat the whole plant.
2025 "Get Down" Workshops
We will also be hosting a series of collaborative “Get Down” workshops in 2025 so that you can learn how to utilize/preserve the foods you receive in your boxes to support the effort. We will be giving you seeds and simple hacks to plant your own food. We are committed to making real food affordable and accessible to as many people as possible.
