THE VALUE OF OUR GARDEN EDUCATION PROGRAM
Schools are at the heart of every community so Good Neighbor Gardens works with teachers, parents, and administrators to bring edible gardens to campus. We get kids outdoors to learn about food production, natural science, and engineering. Through our experiential curriculum, our farm hands nurture compassionate young stewards of the land.
The food harvested at each school goes directly to the cafeteria for students to eat. Good Neighbor Gardens volunteers then distribute the surplus harvest to subscribers in the surrounding community.
Good Neighbor Gardens has been delighted to bring garden education to the following schools:
Carson Elementary, Hawking STEAM Charter School, Innovation Academy, Jerabek Elementary, Linda Vista Elementary, Loma Portal Elementary, Miramar Ranch Elementary, Pacific Beach Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School, Valencia Park Elementary, Washington Elementary, Monarch School, Mt. Everest Academy, Hears Elementary, Jefferson Elementary.
We also bring our garden education program to individuals, families and groups through our Soulful Green Practice. Check it out and let us know if you are interested in registering! Also keep an eye out for upcoming club events.
